Royal Family LIVE: Meghan Markle missing in Firm's tribute to Prince Philip this month
2021-09-10 00:00:00.0     每日快报-皇室     原网页

More than a dozen members of the Royal Family are set to appear in the one-hour programme, which airs later this month. Prince Harry - who quit royal duties last year for a new life in California with Meghan - is among the royals taking part in the tribute film, along with Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Prince William, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall.

However the Duchess of Sussex will not appear in the programme, along with Kate and other spouses of the Queen and Philip's grandchildren.

Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers airs on Wednesday, September 22 at 9pm on BBC One.

The programme was originally planned to mark Philip's 100th birthday in June, but the monarch's beloved husband died two months before his centenary.

The BBC said the tribute film would feature "poignant recollections, plenty of humour and numerous fresh insights into the character and legacy of this royal pioneer".

It will include interviews filmed both before and after Philip's death in April.

The documentary-makers went inside Buckingham Palace to meet the duke's long-serving staff and to capture his study, private office and library as they were during his seven decades of public service.

The Queen, who has not been interviewed for the programme, also granted special access to her private cine-film collection.

Buckingham Palace and the BBC declined to comment.

1.05pm update: Harry's nosedive from one of most popular royals 'adds to his anger'

Prince Harry's nosedive from one of the most popular members of the Royal Family "adds to his anger", according to a royal commentator.

Royal author Duncan Larcombe claimed the Duke of Sussex's plummeting popularity must be "really hard for him".

Mr Larcombe's comments come as a recent YouGov poll suggested public opinion of Harry and Meghan Markle in the UK is continuing to drop.

The royal expert, who penned a book on Harry, told Closer magazine: “I’ve reported on Harry since he was a teenager and he was the most popular member of the Royal Family.

"And going from that to where he is now must be really hard for him and probably adds to his anger."

12.30pm update: Lilibet 'very unlikely' to follow royal tradition

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's youngest child, Lilibet Diana, is unlikely to be christened at Windsor, despite recent reports that the couple had asked the Queen if they can visit.

Emily Nash, Royal Editor at HELLO!, said these latest claims were "very, very unlikely" to happen.

Roya Nikkhah, a royal correspondent for The Times, echoed this, saying: "I would agree with that assessment."

Royal biographer Andrew Lownie told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat: "I think it's very unlikely too."

11.20am update: Harry and William may be reunited by Philip film

Prince Harry and Prince William could be brought together by the upcoming documentary dedicated to the late Prince Philip, according to a royal commentator.

Harry is to be reunited with his extended family, albeit only on video, within weeks when he appears in a BBC documentary paying tribute to the life of Philip.

And one royal commentator believes the film may provide an "excuse" for the Dukes of Sussex and Cambridge to reconnect on a deeper level.

Royal author Adam Helliker told the Sun Online: "You rather hope there may be a spark. The longer this all goes on, the worse it is to disentangle."

10.15am update: Kate wishes Raducanu well as she signs off rare personal tweet

The Duchess of Cambridge took to social media to wish British tennis star Emma Raducanu good luck ahead of her historic performance at the US Open.

Kate took to Twitter to express her sheer joy after 18-year-old Raducanu made tennis history by gaining a place in the US Open final.

In a personal message, Kate said: "What an incredible achievement at this year's #USOpen @EmmaRaducanu! We will all be rooting for you tomorrow. Wishing you the best of luck!"

The Duchess signed off her message with her initial 'C', to clearly state she was the person behind the tweet.

9.35am update: Meghan and Harry blasted for 'breathtaking entitlement' over Lilibet christening

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been accused of "breathtaking entitlement" over Lilibet's christening by a royal commentator.

Writing in the Mirror, royal expert Robert Jobson said: "The couple, who have been very vocal in the media from their Californian mansion lately, have kept Lilibet away from prying eyes and guarded her privacy jealously.

"Now there is talk - as she is already older than her brother Archie was when he was christened – that they are pushing for a ceremony in the private chapel at Windsor Castle.

"To some, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's sense of entitlement might seem breathtaking.

"They seem to be blissfully unaware of the mayhem their behaviour has caused the Queen, the monarchy and the Royal Family.

"After all, their relationship with the family since they stepped down as working royals, and their willingness to blurt out damaging claims on TV, has left its deep scars."

9am update: Princess Charlene 'doesn't want to be Kate' as she is 'no shrinking violet'

Princess Charlene of Monaco doesn't try to conform to the idea of royalty when pursuing her passions and goals, a source has claimed.

Speaking about Charlene's visit to South Africa, the insider explained that the 43-year-old left Monaco in May simply to follow her passion for conservation.

Adding doing this has sometimes meant Charlene doesn't conform to others' expectations of how a royal should act or look, the source told People magazine: "She cares about saving the rhinoceroses and about teaching kids to swim.

"She doesn't want to be Kate [Middleton], and she doesn't want to be Grace Kelly.

"It was just Charlene being Charlene."

8.20am update: Kate and William's 'move to Windsor' will allow George to follow in father's footsteps

Prince George could follow in his father's footsteps after it's been reported Kate and Prince William are "eyeing up" a move to Windsor.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have reportedly been looking at moving to Windsor according to the Mail on Sunday as a royal fan has pointed it that it might be for George.

The oldest of the Cambridge children could follow in his father's footsteps and attend Eton College which is based in Berkshire.

Royal watched Susan Logue pointed out that the Cambridges would be close to the school if they move to Windsor.

8am update: Camilla to be 'secret weapon' when Charles becomes king

Camilla could be the Royal Family's "secret weapon" when Prince Charles becomes king, according to a royal expert.

Speaking last year on podcast ROYALS, Angela Mollard said: “Someone like Camilla who has a sense of humour, who is a dry wit.

“[She] can see the absurdity of royal life in some cases and yet still [has] enormous respect for the charities she represents and a genuine interest in them.”

“I think she’s a magic weapon for the Royal Family and when Charles eventually does take the throne, we will see the full wealth of experience, security and stability she brings to Charles in that role.”

7.50am update: Lilibet to miss out on 'wearing royal gown'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's daughter could miss out on wearing the royal christening gown even if the couple return to the UK to christen Lilibet, a royal commentator has claimed.

Meghan and Harry plan to introduce Lilibet Diana to the Queen later this year, the Sun reported.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly asked the monarch to meet with plans to host a christening for their four-month-old.

But royal commentator Molly Mulshine has pointed out that Lilibet may not be able to wear the royal christening gown if she does return.

Speaking on Us Weekly's Royally Us podcast, she said: "I don't think Lilibet is going to fit in the ceremonial christening gown by the time this all goes through."

7.30am update: Camilla shares ‘extremely important’ message of hope for ‘brave’ Afghan women

The Duchess of Cornwall has called for support for female journalists in Afghanistan as the country continues to suffer under the rule of the Taliban.

Speaking at a Women in Journalism event at Dumfries House, Camilla spoke with BBC journalist Yalda Hakim, who recently interviewed a Taliban spokesman on air.

The Duchess said: “All journalists who fight for truth and justice in the face of retribution deserve our thanks and admiration.

“Let’s do all we can to support, promote and, crucially, listen to the brave female journalists of Afghanistan, whose work puts them in danger every single day.”
