SEREMBAN: A local man died and another was injured after they were hit by fragments from exploding fireworks materials on the roof of a carpark at a Port Dickson hotel on Sunday (Dec 31).
Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said that a 40-year-old victim sustained severe injuries to the face in the 12.30pm incident and died on the spot; while his colleague, 39, was sent to Hospital Port Dickson for treatment.
"Both victims are employees of a company assigned to install fireworks for a New Year’s Eve show at the hotel.
"An investigation is under way to find out the cause of the incident.
"The case has been classified as sudden death," he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 1).
Supt Aidi Sham also called on the public not to speculate on the incident as it could interfere with the police investigation.
