KOTA TINGGI: The Armed Forces arrested four Indonesian illegal immigrants during Ops Benteng patrols on Wednesday (Jan 26) at around 4.30am.

The suspects were detained in the jungles of Bukit Sedili near here within the jurisdiction of the Seventh Infantry Brigade.

“Our patrol team detected suspicious human movements in the jungle at around 3am after getting tip-offs from nearby villagers," the brigade said in a statement Wednesday.

The four suspects – all males between 35 and 52 years old - were apprehended at around 4.30am.

They were brought to the Tanjung Sepang tactical headquarters for documentation.

The illegal immigrants were brought to the Sungai Rengit Health Clinic in Pengerang near here for Covid-19 tests and tested negative.

The team also seized RM12,124.94 and five mobile phones.

A police report had been lodged at the Kuala Sedili police station and the suspects would be handed over to the Immigration Department in Setia Tropika, Johor Baru.

The Quick Reaction Force Team (QRF), the Armed Forces Drone Team and the Malaysian Royal Navy (TLDM) were mobilised to track any remaining illegal immigrants who might be hiding in nearby areas.
