PETALING JAYA: Four motions submitted by Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong have been listed in the Parliament Order Paper, with the exemption of a 2% hike in sales and service tax (SST) on electricity and water bills as the priority.

"Even though none of the 10 oral questions that I sent was listed to be answered today but the four motions that I have submitted are listed today.

"The second one would be to re-introduce the goods and services tax (GST), which is more transparent, to generate income for the country by implementing upgrades to the GST mechanism," said the Ayer Hitam MP on Facebook on Tuesday (Feb 27)

Dr Wee said the third one would be to make a fairer decision on the implementation of SST in the medical sector so that it will not burden patients who are receiving traditional and complementary medical (T&CM) treatments.

"This has been earlier answered by the Finance Minister through a press statement, dated Feb 19, which stated that the decision to impose tax on TCM has been withdrawn," he said.

The last motion was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China to further strengthen the relations of the two countries.

"This will indirectly further improve the country's economic growth through collaboration in various sectors, including trade and investment.

"Hopefully the government and Dewan Rakyat will consider and agree on these motions to ensure the people and the country benefit from these proposals," added Dr Wee.
