       Rishi Sunak faced chaos on Tuesday with the resignation of two deputy chairmen of the Conservative Party in response to his Rwanda Bill.

       Lee Anderson and Brendan Clarke-Smith quit their roles to join a growing rebellion calling for tougher immigration legislation.

       Their resignations were then followed by that of parliamentary private secretary Jane Stevenson.

       They joined about 60 Tory MPs backing an amendment that they say toughens the Bill.

       And now reflecting on their departure, experts are concerned that Mr Anderson's absence will damage the Prime Minister's chances in the upcoming general election.

       Insiders had dubbed Mr Anderson as a "secret weapon for the election" thanks to his no-nonsense approach and appeal with Tory voters.

       However, his rebellion could show to voters worried about illegal immigration that Mr Sunak is not taking charge.

       Amid the chaos of Tuesday night, the Prime Minister pleaded with his party to unite behind his plan for the vote on Wednesday.

       However, some have lost faith in Mr Sunak - including Express readers, with commenter ginni9333 writing: "The party is not going to 'come together' for Rishi Sunak!"
