RUSSELL family killer Michael Stone’s lawyer has launched an appeal over a new lead.

       Paul Bacon wants to trace the driver of a small red 4x4-style car.

       It is thought to have been in the same lane in Chillenden, Kent, before Lin, 45, and Megan, six, were brutally murdered.

       Mr Bacon also wants a shoelace found at the scene to be untied and forensically re-examined.

       He said knots “may contain preserved DNA”.

       It comes after serial killer Levi Bellfield confessed to the 1996 double murder, for which Stone was twice convicted.
