GB news Patrick Christys has slapped down France over the fishing row with the UK, calling them out for not being “diplomatic” with their British allies. The slamming came after angry French fishers blockaded Jersey’s main port after the British crown dependency rejected a third of French boats seeking to fish in its waters. Inflaming tensions between London and Paris have escalated in recent weeks as French fishermen look to maintain access to Jersey's waters.
He went on: “We've entered into a borderline fraudulent business agreement with them. This gives them tens of millions of pounds a year to not stop migrants crossing the Channel.
“When the coronavirus first kicked off, Macron attempted to block PPE from leaving Calais and entering the UK.
“He also threatened to essentially steal our vaccines.”
“So, his pro-EU posturing was pretty disingenuous.
“It's obviously in our interest to have good diplomatic relations with the French, but not at any cost.
“And if they're going to behave like a school child then there's not much that we can do about that is there?
Jersey, one of the Channel Islands, has been at the centre of a dispute surrounding fishing rights.
The UK accepted only 12 out of 47 applications for new licences to small boats from the European Union to fish in its territorial waters, enraging France.
