KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: The Iran International website quoted Head of the Iranian-Kuwaiti Joint Chamber of Commerce in Tehran Hani Al- Faisali as saying that Kuwait has stopped issuing visas to Iranian businesspersons, reports Al-Rai daily. In a recent interview, Al-Faisali disclosed the Iranians, who are still doing business with Kuwait, are those residing in the country. He said the trade relations between the two countries have declined remarkably, indicating the Covid-19 pandemic is one of the reasons behind this decline.

He added Iran is losing businesses as a result of the sanctions imposed by the United States of America (USA), including banking restrictions on Tehran. According to official data released by the Iranian Customs Administration, exports to Kuwait in the first eight months of the Iranian calendar year starting from March 21 exceeded $90 million, compared to $190 million two years ago — before coronavirus hit the whole world. Al-Faisali previously stated that due to the weakness of Iranian diplomacy, bilateral trade between the two countries recorded a downward trend in recent years with the total volume decreasing from $400 million in 2020 to $18 million in 2021.
