Harry celebrated his 37th birthday on Wednesday. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who quit royal duties last year for a new life in California, reportedly opted to "keep it simple" amid world events such as the Covid pandemic and Afghanistan crisis.

Meghan is understood to have planned a "low-key" dinner with her mother Doria Ragland and a handful of friends, according to a source.

The source also claimed little Archie Harrison, two, help his mum make a carrot cake for Harry. They told the Daily Mail: "Meghan is planning a low-key birthday dinner for Harry.

"In light of what's happening in the world - from Afghanistan to Covid - they both decided to keep it simple.

"Meghan said they she's making a carrot cake with the help of Archie, and that guests will include Doria and a few close friends.

"Meghan said their focus right now is being of service, and that attending glitzy events like the MET Gala is wasted time and energy that could be put to good use towards those suffering and in need."

Harry received public birthday greetings from members of the Royal Family.

Prince William, Kate, the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla all took to their official Twitter accounts to wish him a happy birthday.

The Sussexes were also named in Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people of 2021 on Harry's birthday.

Last month, Harry and Meghan shared a statement expressing their heartbreak over the state of the "exceptionally fragile" world.

The couple said they had been left speechless by Afghanistan in the lengthy statement posted on their Archewell website.

The message also addressed the coronavirus pandemic and the Haiti earthquake.

The couple urged global leaders to speed up humanitarian talks and asked people to support charities trying to help those in need.

Harry and Meghan quit royal duties in March 2020 - a move dubbed Megxit.

They are now living in a mansion in Montecito with their two children Archie and Lili.
