Jose Bascaran spent most of Monday in the alleys and streets of Chicago’s River North neighborhood searching for his 23-year-old son, Inaki, who has been missing since he went clubbing with friends on Saturday night.

Chicago police on Monday issued a missing person bulletin for, Inaki Bascaran, but there has not been any sign of the 2016 Glenbrook South graduate, his father said.

“I have no idea,” said Jose Bascaran, who lives in Glenview. “That’s the mystery.”

According to the bulletin, Inaki Bascaran was last seen in the area of the 800 Block of W. Newport in Chicago.

He said Inaki was last seen in a crowded River North bar with two men and a woman around midnight on Saturday, and that he was asked to leave because he may have been intoxicated. After sending several text messages Inaki “FaceTimed” his roommate and said he was walking to Lakeview where he lives, his father said.

A friend of his son texted Inaki at about 12:15 a.m. but that the text was not read, Jose Bascaran said.

On Monday Jose Bascaran, 56, along with friends and family were posting flyers with Inaki’s picture throughout River North asking anyone with information to contact police. He said they’ve also checked hospitals, to no avail and that a check of his son’s bank account and credit card did not show any suspicious activity.

“I don’t think he was mugged,” he said.

“We are posting flyers everywhere,” Bascaran said. “We are talking to the businesses, restaurants, hotels, asking to share the fliers. We’re trying to see if anyone saw anything.”

He said an Uber driver reported seeing someone late Saturday fitting his son’s description walking “not in a good condition.”

“I think they were drinking a lot,” he said. “That worries me.”

He also said that his son has never gone missing before.

“He is a really good kid,” said Bascaran. “I don’t know if he blacked out. I have no idea.”

“We’re looking for anyone that has any information that might help us find him,” he added. “We need anyone who saw anything, please help us locate our son.”

Inaki is described as a 5′ 9″ male, age 23, 165 pounds with green eyes, brown hair and a light complexion.
