BANK Holiday revellers have started the long weekend with a bang as they flocked to pubs and clubs last night.

       Partygoers hit the town as the last summer bank holiday weekend began - with streets across UK cities filled with glammed up revellers ready to make the most of their extra day off.

       Brits love a boozy bank holiday and partygoers in Birmingham, Leeds and London could not wait to get started.

       Ladies in Leeds were out in force dressed in their best outfits, beaming with pals as they made the most of the summer temperatures.

       One partygoer stunned onlookers with her plunging top and sparkly tights.

       Three pals in Birmingham looked to be out for a fun-filled Friday night and sported matching Hawaiian flower necklaces.

       With the recent weather a little warmer, partygoers left their coats at home and dressed for the sunshine in shorts and crop tops.

       While in Newcastle, friends could be seen fooling around in the street, much to the amusement of onlookers.

       Happy punters posed for pictures - with one lad even proudly sporting a chicken costume from head to toe.

       Another boozy group headed out for a night on the Toon with huge multi-coloured party sunglasses.

       Later in the evening, revellers were spotted munching away on takeaway kebabs after a happy night of boozing.

       It comes as Brits woke up to unsettled conditions after the Met Office issued thunderstorm warnings on the first day of the Bank Holiday.

       The forecasters posted yellow weather warnings for some parts of the country that threatened to put a dampener on the long weekend.

       Scotland is the area worst affected with several coastal regions and areas south of Edinburgh anticipating inches of rain today.

       The forecasters said the harsh rainfall could cause massive disruption, with transportation delays on the cards as people travel during the Bank Holiday.

       Those attending festivals this weekend will hope that sunny spells win out over scattered showers.

       After a brief spell of warm weather, Brits with tickets were hoping they could party in glorious sun and stay clear of camping in muddy damp fields.

       Reading, Leeds and Creamfields kicked off yesterday with rain threatening to break out over the long weekend.

       It isn't all grey skies though as all three locations are forecast to see some brighter conditions across the next four days.
