KUCHING: Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has recovered from Covid-19, a week after testing positive for the virus.

He completed his seven-day home surveillance order on Sunday (March 6) and his rapid antigen self-test the same day was negative.

"My sincerest thanks to everyone... for their prayers, support, thoughts over the last seven challenge (sic) days," he said on his Facebook page on Monday (March 7).

Dr Sim tested positive on Feb 28 after taking a PCR test ahead of an official overseas trip.

He said he was in Category One (asymptomatic) and briefly in Category 2A (mild symptoms such as sore throat or cough) during the past week, thanks to being fully vaccinated.

"My personal experience, with my professional medical background, (it) is definitely not mild like the flu. (It) will pose challenges for the elderly and those who are (at) high risk with diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity," he said.

He added that those recovering from Covid-19 should be aware of the potential for systemic inflammation and take appropriate anti-inflammatory measures.
