CAPE TOWN, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A senior offical in South Africa's Cape Town on Wednesday said the city's Economic Growth Directorate aims at realizing greater investment and becoming Africa's best financial center.

       Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, was commenting in a statement on the latest Global Financial Centers Index published by British think tank Z/Yen Group and China Development Institute on March 24.

       South Africa's second largest city moved up seven places to number 55 globally in the ranking, and was ranked second in Africa after Morocco's Casablanca, which was one place higher than Cape Town.

       The official said the city government has worked hard to forge a strong foundation for economic development and investment and is constantly working to make life easier for businesses.

       As part of the efforts, the city forms close partnerships with industry bodies to help boost workforces in key industries such as information technology, greentech and business process outsourcing, which increases production, investment, and job opportunities.
