MADRID, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) won the 10th stage of the Vuelta a Espana cycle race on Tuesday.
The Italian specialist completed the 25.8-kilometer course around Valladolid in just 27 minutes and 39 seconds, 16 seconds ahead of recently crowned world time trial champion Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step), and 36 seconds faster than three-time Vuelta winner Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma).
Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) finished the stage in 29 minutes and 8 seconds, but that is enough to keep the American, who is a specialist climber in the overall leader's red jersey, with a lead of 26 seconds over Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates). Evenepoel was one minute and nine seconds behind, and Roglic one minute and 36 seconds behind his teammate.
Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) is seventh in the classification, two minutes and 22 seconds behind Kuss, meaning he is more likely to play a supporting role to the race leader and Roglic from now on, rather than look for the overall triumph himself.
Stage 11 of the Vuelta on Wednesday takes the riders 163 kilometers between Lerma and the Laguna Negra Vinuesa in the north of Spain, with a stage over rolling terrain ending with a tough first category climb, which should suit Kuss more than Tuesday's stage.
