KOTA KINABALU: Four people died in an early morning fire at a house in Kg Hungab Penampang on Tuesday (Sept 7).

       The charred remains of three men and a woman were discovered after firemen managed to bring the fire down at about 3am.

       The fire which started at about 2am, resulted in the death of the victims identified only as Matthew, Brendon, Eriq and Jekky (woman).

       One victim was found inside the master bathroom while another three were found in another room.

       It is unclear whether the victims are related while the cause of the fire is still not known.

       State Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Mohd Affendy Ramin said they received a distress call at 2.52am and arrived at the scene at 2.57am.

       “The house was engulfed in fire and was totally destroyed by then,” he said.

       The fire was brought under control at 3.45am.

       Investigations on the incident are ongoing.
