Journalist Nabila Ramdani called on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to take action against France. While speaking on GB News with Michelle Dewberry, she said threats from French fishermen to cause blockades due to the ongoing Brexit fishing row could cause serious disruptions. She added any power cuts to UK islands like Jersey could prove equally disastrous.

       Ms Dewberry said: "You think that the EU Commission should step in and pull France into line?

       Ms Ramdani replied: "Yes I do.

       "I think because some of the methods the French fisherman are threatening to use are clearly guerilla tactics and unlawful tactics.

       "If you think about the possibility of those blockades being imposed or those electricity cuts being inflicted on Jersey or the Channel Islands in particular then we are talking about the possibility of no electricity in care homes or hospitals.

       "People may be affected gravely to the point of dying."

       British politicians have raged at France for their aggressive stance towards the UK despite both countries being allies.

       Tory MP Andrew Rosindell has called on Boris Johnson to reconsider the UK-France relationship if this behaviour continues.

       Mr Rosindell said: "Recent reports in the media have confirmed that France is increasingly acting like a hostile state towards the UK.

       “In just the past few weeks we have seen France threaten to cut energy supplies to the UK and the Channel Islands as well as well-founded accusations that France stole five million doses of coronavirus vaccines destined for the UK.

       “Alongside its petulant response to the AUKUS announcement and its ongoing and undimmed outrage at our departure from the European Union.

       "We now face a Government in Paris which seems to have little interest in positive relations with us.

       “The great irony is that it was the French in the 1950s and 1960s who fought a long campaign to prevent our entry into the newly formed European institutions.”

       French MP Bruno Bonnell, while speaking on GB News, insisted that it was predictable that rows between the UK and France would continue to occur post-Brexit.

       Mr Bonnell said: "A fallout between the UK and France was unfortunately predictable.

       "This is after so many lies told to the UK people about Brexit.

       "We knew that it would be a problem and we knew it would not end discussions about some issues.
