Emergency services dashed to Trinity View, privately owned accommodation, in Coventry city centre to reports of a responseless 19-year-old man. He was pronounced dead at the scene and police are not treating it as suspicious.
Coventry University confirmed the teenager was one of its students and expressed its sadness.
Counselling will now be available for students, reports Coventry Live.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A 19-year-old man was discovered dead at an address in Friars Road, Coventry, at around 9pm on Thursday (October 21).
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and referred to the coroner."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a residential property on Friars Road, Coventry at 9.07pm on Thursday October 21.
"A paramedic officer attended and sadly found one man deceased on scene."
Trinity View caters for students at both Coventry University, which is a short walk away, and Warwick University, a 24-minute bus ride south. There is a cinema room and a gym at the complex.
Joanne Pollard, managing director of Prime Student Living, the management company operating Trinity View on behalf of the landlord, said: "One of the students living at Trinity View has sadly passed away. Our thoughts and sympathies are with their family and friends at this very sad time.
"Prime Student Living is working closely with the Police and Coventry University. We are offering support and assistance to students and colleagues at Trinity View. Coventry University Welfare Support Services is offering counselling for students and we encourage all those affected by the news of this tragic incident to access this service."
A Coventry University spokesperson, said: "We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our students in a privately managed student hall of residence.
"Our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends at this awful time. We are offering students affected by this sad loss support during this difficult time."
