A 49-year-old man was facing DUI charges after his vehicle crashed into an Oak Lawn home overnight, official said.

       Shortly after midnight, Oak Lawn police responded to a vehicle accident in the 5000 block of 99th Street where a vehicle struck the front of a single-family home, according to a Oak Lawn police news release.

       A preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle veered off the roadway after the driver disregarded a stop sign and struck a home. The vehicle struck a house where a resident was sleeping on a couch, pushing the couch several feet inside the home, the release said.

       The resident was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and release, officials said.

       The driver of the vehicle was taken into police custody and also taken to a hospital for minor injuries. It was suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol and it was discovered his alcohol level was more than double the legal limit.

       Roberto Rios was charged with DUI, reckless driving, disobeying a stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident. He was cited and released from the hospital.

       He was scheduled to appear Feb. 28 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
