On June 25, at 11:00 a.m. Moscow time (GMT+3) the Valdai Club will hold an online discussion in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) on the topic: “The Chinese factor in Russia-India relations.”

The rise of China has seriously altered the existing world order, especially against the backdrop of its growing rivalry with the United States. While Russia is constantly expanding and deepening its engagement with China, India is alarmed by China's growth. Differences between how Russia and India interact with the United States create additional challenges for Russian-Indian cooperation. Moscow and New Delhi are taking steps to strengthen relations, however, external factors, including debates over the Indo-Pacific region and the nature of China's rise, continue to pressure their policies towards each other.

How will the emergence of a new international system and the rise of China affect the future of Russian-Indian relations? What is the most optimal relationship model for Russia, India and China? What should be done by Moscow and New Delhi to maintain cooperation in the spirit of strategic partnership? These and other questions will be answered by participants in the online discussion.
