During a new BBC programme celebrating the Duke of Edinburgh’s life, Prince William spoke about an unaware teen who was completing his Duke of Edinburgh Award and insulted Philip. The Duke of Cambridge recalled the hilarious moment Philip was told to “jog on”.

Prince William said: "[Philip] stopped and wound down his window and said, ‘Good morning. How are you getting on?

"To which the smallest young chap at the back turned round and effectively said, ‘Jog on Grandpa!’"

The Daily Mail reports The Duke of Cambridge admitted the reply was blunt, but his grandfather saw the funny side of it.

After the young lad’s cheeky reply, Prince Philip turned to his grandson and quipped: “The youth of today!”

The BBC programme celebrates the life of the late Duke, who sadly passed away just a few months before his 100th birthday in April.

During the documentary, Charles also revealed the final conversations he had with his father.

The day before the Duke of Edinburgh died the Prince of Wales was discussing plans to celebrate his father’s 100th birthday.

Charles said: "We're talking about your birthday."

Philip replied: "Well, I've got to be alive for it, haven't I?"

Charles replied: "I knew you'd say that!"

Yesterday, during a 15-second video on Prince William’s Instagram, royal fans were delighted to spot a picture of Prince Philip and Prince George sitting in the background of the shot.

The picture shows Prince Philip and Prince William’s son George when he was two - an image which the Duke of Cambridge had previously released after his grandfather’s death.
