'Mistruth and betrayal' - Melania Trump blasts former press secretary over new book

Scheduled for publication on October 5th, Stephanie Grisham’s book on her time at the White House received nothing but Siberian cold feedback from Melania Trump’s team. This Monday, Politico revealed a few nuggets of the book, which portrayed the former First Lady as “the doomed French queen” who was “Dismissive. Defeated. Detached.”

Politico also reached out to Melania Trump herself for any comment on the first exclusive quotes they had from the upcoming book called I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the Trump White House.

A statement provided by the office of Melania Trump said: “The intent behind this book is obvious.

“It is an attempt to redeem herself after a poor performance as press secretary, failed personal relationships, and unprofessional behaviour in the White House.

“Through mistruth and betrayal, she seeks to gain relevance and money at the expense of Mrs Trump.”

Stephanie Grisham worked as press secretary for Melania from 2017 to 2019 before moving to Donald’s Trump as communications director from July 2019 to April 2020.

She is remembered as the only White House press secretary who never held any press briefings.

She went back to working for the First Lady from 2020 to January 2021 when she resigned.

It’s not the first time Melania Trump has chosen to comment on former employees who criticise her publicly.

In January, after witnessing Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former advisor and friend, releasing a book, private audio recordings and an essay in the Daily Beast labelling her “complicit in the destruction of America”, Mrs Trump issued a statement and answered those critiques.

Referencing the global pandemic, she said she found it “shameful that surrounding these tragic events there has been salacious gossip, unwarranted personal attacks, and false misleading accusations on me — from people who are looking to be relevant and have an agenda.”

The Trump Justice Department filed a civil suit against Winston Wolkoff in October 2019, alleging breach of a nondisclosure agreement, which the Biden Justice Department dropped in February 2021.
