INSULATE Britain continues to cause chaos on the roads - blocking a major roundabout in central London as well as the M25.

On October, 8, 2021, the climate activist group once again caused severe disruption by blocking the M25 at the exit for junction 25 and Old Street roundabout.

Insulate Britain has blocked the M25 at junction 25 and Old Street roundabout in central London.

Insulate Britain said around 40 "ordinary people" have taken to the streets in two separate locations for the 12th day of travel chaos.

Another set of protesters set up camp on the busy Old Street roundabout in Islington during rush hour this morning.

Footage showed the group staring straight ahead while sitting across an exit on the busy Old Street roundabout in Islington during rush hour on the morning of October 8, 2021.

Demonstrator Tracey Mallagan - who joined the group on the M25 at Waltham Cross in Hertfordshire today - said the country faces a "terrifying situation".

She told LBC: "We won’t be worrying about shortages of pasta or loo rolls because law and order breaks down pretty quickly when there is not enough food to go round.

"The government won’t be wondering if there are enough hospital beds or ventilators, but whether there are enough people left to bury the dead.

"The government is destroying our country. Boris Johnson should be taken to court for treason. Our flesh and blood are being tossed aside as expendable.”

Where have Insulate Britain blocked off before?

Previously, Insulate Britain have targeted the M25, M4, M1 and Port of Dover.

The group staged protests on the M25 near Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, the M4 near Heathrow Airport and the M1 at Brent Cross, North London.

Protesters have also targeted other motorways, including the M11 near Stansted Airport in Essex and the M3 in Surrey.

On October 2, 2021, the government obtained a fresh injunction banning the group from obstructing traffic and access to motorways and major A roads around London.

Anyone who breaks the injunction faces imprisonment or an unlimited fine, and activists found in contempt of court may also be forced to repay the costs of their case.

The Department for Transport (DfT) said more than 200 Insulate Britain campaigners had been arrested at the protests, the first of which affected Essex, Hertfordshire and Kent on September 13, 2021.

On October 4, at the Blackwall Tunnel, a group of activists sat down on the northbound A102 causing large queues to build up during rush hour.

Furious motorists and emergency crews could be seen the same day on Wandsworth Bridge dragging Insulate Britain protesters from the road as they attempted to cause disruption.

In a video posted by talkRADIO, one angry protester can be heard shouting: "Get off the f***ing road, you f***ing idiot," before dragging a demonstrator sitting in the middle of the road.

Insulate Britain is demanding that the Government insulate the UK's 29 million homes by 2030 in a bid to reduce climate emissions.

The off-shoot of Extinction Rebellion wants the Government to take real action on the climate crisis.

       What has Insulate Britain said?

Insulate Britain spokesperson Tracey, a full-time mother from Milton Keynes said: “We’re more scared of what will happen when the climate crisis causes the breakdown of law and order, than we are of injunctions and prison.

“The government is focussing on us rather than what’s coming down the road. They need to face up to reality.”

Controversial group ringleader Liam Norton - who stormed off Good Morning Britain during a discussion about his own eco-habits - said the demonstrations will not stop.

He said: "We want to be clear, this campaign will continue until the government gives us a meaningful statement we can trust, if that happens we will get off the roads like a shot."
