Speaking to Radio 5 Live on Tuesday, housing surveyor Tony slapped down claims by protestor Liam Norton after he made multiple claims about the impact leaky and uninsulated homes have on Britain's greenhouse gas emissions. Tony instead humiliated the activist slamming how UK homes are insulated and that the raft of suggestions from Insulate Britain is not achievable in the slightest.

       The protester slammed to host Nicky Campbell: “This isn’t a cause Nicky, this is about the destruction of our economy, the destruction of our health service! The destruction of everything we hold dear within a few decades.”

       Mr Norton went on to quote a recent report from Chatham House which stated if emissions do not come down radically “ten million people a year” will experience heat stress “exceeding the survivability threshold”.

       He said people will essentially “fry to death” as a result and that Insulate Britain “have got a plan” to deal with the impending doom as he slammed how it is the “absolute bare minimum” that the government should be doing before stressing the group are “not willing to budge".

       But Tony hit back: "I have been surveying houses for the last ten years, I have surveyed thousands of houses.

       “Since 1983 all new homes built with a cavity have been insulated, so that is forty years of insulated houses, both in the walls and in the lofts!”

       He explained how in his experience “at least 95 percent” of cavity walls have been retrofitted with cavity wall insulation. While over 90 percent have got loft insulation.

       While he noted: “So you’re left really out of 26-million homes with those Victoria terraced houses and stone-built rural homes that obviously have no cavities.

       “So the actual potential achieving retrofitted insulation in the existing housing stock is very very limited.”

       The housing expert went on to stress how of about 26 million properties in the UK, about 8 million are terraced, solid brick properties as he estimated "50-60% of people" wouldn’t have the required insulation and “Grenfell” style cladding put onto their homes for a variety of reasons.

       He added: “So I am really struggling to see where Insulate Britain are going to achieve insulating a million houses for the next 29-years!

       “When there are only about three or four million houses that could do with it!"

       He went on to call for the group to call for the fitting of solar panels instead of insulation as he insisted how solar PV panels will have a “far greater impact” on greenhouse gases than insulation.

       The surveyor added how solar panels will also make the housing stock of Britain much more energy efficient.

       Insulate Britain is calling on the Government to insulate the UK's homes as a matter of urgency to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

       The group claims Britain's leaky housing stock is a major contributor to CO2 emissions in the UK.

       It comes as the group launched the eleventh day of protest on Monday as they blocked roads across major access points to central London sparking travel chaos for thousands.
