Writers’ group to receive second Tamil Thaai award

       THE Malaysian Writers Association will receive the prestigious Tamil Thaai (Mother Tamil) award from the Tamil Nadu state government, Malaysia Nanban reported.

       The award was announced by Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin during the Indian Republic Day celebration on Jan 26.

       Under the guidance of the association chairman P. Rajendran, it had contributed significantly to developing Tamil literature in Malaysia and the region.

       This includes introducing local Tamil writers on the global stage.

       The prestigious award comes with a plaque and 500,000 rupees (RM28,000) in prize money and a Tamil Nadu state government certificate of appreciation.

       This is the second time the association has received the award. The first was in 2020.

       The inspector, identified as Rajeswari, received the Anna Award for outstanding service in conjunction with the Indian Republic Day.
