MELAKA: Four policemen are under investigation for supplying prohibited items including drugs to detainees at a lock-up in one of the districts in the state.

They are being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

Melaka MACC director Mohd Shahril Che Saad confirmed the arrests.

He said all four were detained when they appeared to have their statements recorded on Tuesday (June 21).

He said they were being investigated for allegedly supplying prohibited items such as drugs and tobacco products as well as food packages to detainees between 2019 to 2020.

They allegedly received RM600 to RM9,000 as inducements for their services.

The four were brought to a Magistrate's Court in Ayer Keroh on Wednesday (June 22) where a seven-day remand order was issued against them.

Magistrate Mazana Sinin granted the order against the rank-and-file personnel aged between 35 and 40 years old to facilitate investigations.
