KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is expected to continue to experience bad weather due to the presence of Tropical Storm Megi some 950km from Sandakan in the east coast of Sabah.

The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a Category One strong wind and rough sea warning on Monday (April 11) while heavy rains coupled with strong winds were experienced over the last three days in Sabah.

MetMalaysia said that the warning in the eastern waters of Condore, Reef North, Layang-Layang, Labuan, Palawan, and Sulu was effective until Monday.

"The public in the affected areas are advised to be alert and follow the latest status information on Tropical Storm Megi, which will be updated every three hours," MetMalaysia said in a statement at 10am Monday.

“This information can be obtained through the myCuaca website and application. The public can also contact the MetMalaysia hotline at 1-300-22-1638 for further inquiries,” the statement read.

Over the weekend, Kota Belud, Tuaran and Sandakan in Sabah were hit by heavy rains that triggered floods and landslides. There were also reports of strong winds as well.
