PETALING JAYA: The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) has quashed claims that its recent high-profile investigation was a case of selective prosecution or politically motivated.
Without referring to any case, the AGC said that its decision to charge any individual is based on the outcome of recorded statements and investigations and not on the insistence of any party or other factors.
The AGC said its decision to prosecute is unbiased and made with integrity to ensure the victim, witnesses, accused and public obtain justice in line with its powers as stipulated in Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.
"We deny any allegations of selective prosecution against any individual. If there is strong evidence of any individual committing an offence under provisions of the law, the AGC will charge them accordingly regardless of their status and background.
