It comes as news broke that Lord David Frost had resigned from the position, and would be replaced at the negotiating table in the New Year by Foreign Secretary Liz Truss. Michelle O’Neill, deputy leader of Sinn Fein, said Lord Frost and the UK Government “have been dishonest repeatedly in terms of trying to wish away the protocol – the protocol that David Frost himself negotiated.

       “This is the same David Frost who negotiated Brexit and he’s worked to undermine it every day ever since.”

       She added that she wanted to ensure “the [Northern Ireland] Protocol is made to work, that pragmatic solutions are found [to…] the Brexit mess.”
