A 36-year-old man died after a Cottage Grove Heights traffic crash and two others were taken to a hospital for treatment after the Wednesday night collision, Chicago police said.

The man was driving a Ford sedan when it struck a Ford SUV in traffic around 10:50 p.m. in the 9500 block of South Dorchester Avenue, at East 95th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11 p.m., according to information from the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The agency had not released the name of the 36-year-old as of Thursday morning, according to a spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office.

Two men in the Ford SUV were taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition. No additional information about the injuries they suffered was immediately available.

It wasn’t clear what led the sedan to strike the SUV.

The Major Accidents Unit is investigating, officials said.
