KUCHING: Be wary of claims by those who say they can form a better government, says a Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leader.
Supreme council member Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said with the election campaign for the Sarawak polls ongoing, many are making such claims.
“Now we have many claiming they can rule the state, and that they have professionals in their groups.
“But make no mistake. The Pakatan Harapan government too had many highly qualified professionals but they were only good at rhetorics.
“The Pakatan government collapsed after 22 months because of a lot of dissatisfaction from the people over unkept promises,” he said at a meet-the-people session at the compound of Spaoh mosque.
Spaoh is located in the Betong division about 250km from the state capital.
Wan Junaidi said the “episode” with Pakatan government should serve as a lesson for the people of Sarawak.
“It is a good lesson for Sarawakians to only vote for those with experience and proven leadership,” he said.
He said the previous ruling GPS coalition under Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his deputy Datuk Douglas Uggah were among leaders who had excelled in their respective responsibilities.
On Uggah, who was former GPS rep for Bukit Saban, Wan Junaidi said the constituency has good development programmes being implemented there.
“He (Uggah) deserves all the support from the people,” he said.
