George has often been spotted wearing shorts over the years even during winter when the weather is chilly. But the future king is expected to swap to trousers now he is eight as he follows an upper-class tradition.
Editor-in-Chief of Majesty magazine Ingrid Seward previously told People: “Boys wear short trousers until they are eight.
“It is very English.
“It is considered very suburban for a little boy to be in long trousers when he is just a little boy.
“It is shorts until you’re 8 and then ‘woo, you’re in long trousers.'
“They suddenly feel very grown up.”
Ms Seward added that George is following in the footsteps of his father the Duke of Cambridge.
She said: “Prince William didn’t wear long trousers until he went to school at Ludgrove at the age of eight or nine."

Etiquette expert William Hanson has also previously explained why George wears shorts.
He told Harpers Bazaar: "It's a very English thing to dress a young boy in shorts.
"Trousers are for older boys and men, whereas shorts on young boys is one of those silent class markers that we have in England.

"Although times are (slowly) changing, a pair of trousers on a young boy is considered quite middle class – quite suburban.
"And no self-respecting aristo or royal would want to be considered suburban.
"Even the Duchess of Cambridge."
William and Kate's eldest son has regularly been seen out and about in shorts - even on Christmas Day.
However, he could be seen more in trousers now after turning eight in July.
Since celebrating his eighth birthday, speculation has also been high over whether George will attend boarding school like William did.
