Dozens of people gathered outside the US embassy in Nine Elms, London, on Wednesday evening to protest Washington's decision to cosy up to Russia. Many of the pro-Ukraine protesters carried Ukrainian flags and placards showing their solidarity to the government in Kyiv, Ukrainians and Volodymyr Zelensky.
Some of the protesters were heard chanting “Russian troops out” and “Russia is a terrorist state”. One of the banners being held up by the protesters read, "Trump is a Russian asset", while others read, "Stop Trump" and, “Occupation is not peace. Justice for Ukraine”. The protest was organised by the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign, Ukrainian organisations and John McDonnell MP.

Some of the banners were also seen in a photo shared by British journalist Paul Mason. In the post he shared on X, he said: "Happening now. Protest outside US embassy in London. Placards tell the story of UK solidarity with Ukraine."
The protest comes in the wake of Trump's decision to suspend both military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, following the brutal spat at the White House between the US President and Ukrainian leader Zelensky last week.
At the Oval Office meeting, Trump and his Vice President JD Vance humiliated Ukraine's leader in front of the world's media, accusing him of "disrespecting" the US.
Trump later added in a social media post shared on Friday evening that Zelensky could return to the White House when he was "ready for peace".

Ukraine's President is desperately trying to mend bridges with Trump's administration. He claimed progress had been achieved in talks with the US on a new meeting between the two countries’ representatives.
He said the head of the Ukrainian presidential staff, Andriy Yermak, had spoken to US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz earlier today.
"There’s been positive movement. We are expecting first results next week," Zelensky said in his evening video address posted on social media.
However, he did not specify whether the new meeting with the US would involve himself and President Trump.
