PUTRAJAYA: The country’s Covid-19 intensive care unit (ICU) usage rate remains over 80%, with Kedah the only state still operating at an overcapacity.
In a tweet on Thursday (Sept 9), Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah shared the country’s latest ICU figures, which showed the country’s ICU occupancy rate at 82% as of 5pm on Sept 8.
The percentage is out of the 1,575 ICU beds available for Covid-19 cases all over the country.
On the day before, the national usage rate was at 84%.
Kedah’s current usage is at 125% out of 104 ICU beds.
Other states with ICU usage rate above 90% are Selangor (90% out of 317 ICU beds), Johor (92% out of 110 ICU beds), Perak (93% out of 114), Penang (96% out of 73) and Kelantan (95% out of 85).
Sarawak’s ICU rate is at 76% (out of 120 ICU beds), while Kuala Lumpur is at 66% (out of 174 ICU beds).
Labuan, which has the country’s highest Covid-19 vaccination rate, is at 0% of its 18 available ICU beds.
In terms of Covid-19 non-ICU beds, the nationwide occupancy rate as of Sept 8 is at 77% (out of 17,894 beds).
