PETALING JAYA: Intensive care units (ICU) in Selangor have recorded 55% usage for Covid-19 cases, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic).
The Health director-general said the total number of ICU beds currently occupied nationwide for Covid-19 cases were 221.
While for non-ICU beds, he said Putrajaya and Selangor saw 61% and 51% usage respectively on Wednesday (April 6).
Dr Noor Hisham, however, said the usage of ventilators has gone down.
“Covid-19 patients that require ventilators fell to 122 patients (compared to 140 on April 5) with a 14% ventilator usage,” he said in a statement on Thursday (April 7).
On Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre capacity, he said there were no states that had more than 50% usage.
Meanwhile, he said Malaysia recorded 12,105 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday.
"Of the cases, 6,623 (54.71%) fall under category one, 5,387 (44.51%) under category two, 40 (0.33%) under category three, 17 (0.14%) under category four and 38 (0.31%) under category five," he said.
Dr Noor Hisham also said there are currently 151 active clusters and no new clusters reported.
