IPOH: Folk can exercise in parks that are located within 10km from their homes, says Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan.

The Ipoh OCPD, however, warned that people should not take advantage to gather with friends at these locations as the second phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) was now in place.

“Physical distancing must be in place and standard operating procedures (SOPs) respected,” he told reporters after distributing food boxes at the district police patrol and transport depot here on Wednesday (July 7).

“I understand that those that have stayed home might long to meet with their friends at the park but this is not allowed,” he added.

ACP Yahaya was responding to a question on police telling people at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreational Park (Polo Ground) to go home.

Under the second phase, fitness and recreational activities that do not involve physical contact are once again allowed.

These included jogging, tai chi, cycling, skateboarding, fishing, archery, climbing, tennis (single), golf and motorsports.

Physical distance of two to three metres must be in place at all times.

The activities are allowed in open areas or outdoor within 10km of one’s home from 6am to 8pm.

ACP Yahaya said the police will continue to monitor factories and business premises for observation of SOPs.

“Everyone needs to follow the SOP set by the government and International Trade and Industry Ministry,” he added.

During the ceremony, the food boxes were presented to seven recipients.

ACP Yahaya then visited two other locations to present the food boxes.
