MIRI: Vandalism involving party flags are among five election-related crimes reported since Nomination Day, say police.
Miri OCPD Asst Comm Hakemal Hawari said the reports were lodged by several contesting parties in the election.
ACP Hakemal was quoted by Utusan Borneo as saying that no report against standard operating procedure violations has been lodged to date.
“This shows that candidates and parties, as well as their supporters, have been following the SOP,” he said on Sunday (Dec 12).
ACP Hakemal said that 500 policemen would be dispatched to all polling stations in five constituencies in Miri on polling day.
The constituencies that are under the district police jurisdiction are Senadin, Pujut, Piasau, Lambir and Bekenu.
Polling for the 12th Sarawak state election falls on Dec 18.
