GEORGE TOWN: A total of 116 officers and personnel of George Town district police headquarters tested positive for Covid-19 but it won't interrupt their operations, the people are assured.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said those affected are under home quarantine recovering from the milder Categories 1 and 2.
He added that 134 members of their families are also Covid-19-positive but none are undergoing treatment at the hospitals.
"However, the infections have not disrupted the daily duties and operations of the George Town district police headquarters," he told a press conference on Tuesday (March 8).
ACP Soffian said a thorough sanitisation of the premises has been carried out.
"We will also ensure that the public comply with the stringent standard operating procedure in place when they seek services at the district police," he said.
Penang recorded 1,836 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday (March 7).
