'She's got a lot on her plate!' Queen 'hard to keep down' as monarch ordered to rest

The Queen, 95, has been busy since her return from her summer break at Balmoral. The statement said: "Her Majesty is in good spirits and is disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she had been due to undertake a series of engagements today and tomorrow." "The Queen sends her warmest good wishes to the people of Northern Ireland, and looks forward to visiting in the future."

The two-day trip was planned to start Wednesday, it has been said that it is not Covid-19 related.

Europe correspondent Carrie-Anne Greenbank spoke to The Today Show hosts Allison Langdon and Karl Stefanovic about the announcement.

Ms Landgon said: "She's been looking alright hasn't she but she's got a lot on her plate."

"You think about everything that is going on with her son, Prince Andrew, it's a pretty stressful time for her."

Ms Greenbank added: "It is a stressful time and she has been ramping up the engagements ever since she came back to public life."

"She was in isolation for many many months because of the pandemic, then she endured and grieved through Prince Philip's passing."

"Now she's at this stage where she really wants to reconnect with people, she really wants to engage in public life, but again, she is 95 years old and Covid is an ongoing concern."

"She is fully vaccinated, interesting to point out though, a number of recent engagements she's gone to, she is no longer wearing a mask."

"That's not a factor in this situation, but it is something to think about going forward."

Mr Stefanovic said: "It's hard to keep a good Queen down, we're sending her our best wishes."

The Queen has been undertaking lots of official visits this month, seeing her travel to Scotland, Wales and over England.

It is expected she will still attend the COP26 summit in Glasgow later this month.

The Queen was also headline news for her health earlier this month, when she was seen using a walking stick.

She was seen using a walking aid as she attended a service at Westminster Abbey marking the centenary of the Royal British Legion.

Her Majesty, who was attending the service with her daughter Princess Anne, arrived at the Poet’s Yard entrance of the Abbey rather than the Great West door, which involved a shorter walk to her seat.

Both changes were understood to be tailored for the monarch's comfort.
