PETALING JAYA: A viral letter purportedly on a list of seats MCA would be contesting in the upcoming Johor polls is fake, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
The MCA president said Barisan Nasional would always hold discussions and all decisions are achieved by consensus of its constituent parties.
He was referring to a fake letter that went viral on social media using the MCA letterhead and his name.
“To those with evil intentions, doing this slander to divide Barisan – stop it!
“We in Barisan always hold discussions and all decisions are achieved by consensus of the constituent parties,” said Dr Wee, who is Transport Minister, in a Facebook post yesterday.
The fake letter claimed MCA would field candidates for all seats the party previously contested during the last general election.
It also stated that MCA would contest 17 out of 56 seats in the upcoming Johor election.
The letter also said that although there was a dispute between Umno and MCA on who should contest the Pemanis, Senai and Tangkak seats, MCA would continue contesting the seats as these had been the party’s for a long time.
