TANGKAK: PKR is following the move by other Pakatan Harapan parties by naming its candidates one at a time ahead of the announcement of nomination and polling dates by the Election Commission (EC), says state PKR chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.
He said that the party is still finalising its list of candidates.
“We are still planning, but I believe we will use the same strategy (as DAP) where we will announce our candidates one by one, starting with seats that have been confirmed, followed by other seats.
“It depends on the decision made by the party’s leadership. But I believe this would be the best way as it will give our candidates more time to make early preparations,” he said after attending DAP’s announcement of its candidate for the Tangkak seat here yesterday.
So far, DAP announced that its incumbent assemblymen Ee Chin Li (Tangkak), Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali (Paloh), Chew Chong Sin (Mengkibol) and Gan Peck Cheng (Penggaram) would be defending their respective seats.
Parti Amanah Negara also announced that its incumbent, Pulai Sebatang assemblyman Muhammad Taqiuddin Cheman, would be contesting the Mahkota seat.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said that the party will announce more names of candidates in the next few days.
