LEDANG: PKR's Gambir candidate Naim Jusri, who tested positive for Covid-19 on nomination day, will be out from quarantine on Saturday (March 5), says the party's Johor chief.
Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said he had advised Naim to be on the ground "24/7" until polling day on March 12.
"He must go. I mentioned to him, after this (quarantine) you have to be on the ground for 24 hours, you cannot sleep," said Syed Ibrahim, the Ledang MP, when met here on Friday (March 4).
Naim, who arrived at the Gambir nomination centre on Saturday (Feb 26) to file for his candidacy, tested positive for Covid-19.
However, he was still allowed to file his nomination papers.
Naim will be contesting against Barisan Nasional's Shah Rihan Ghani, Perikatan Nasional'a Mohd Solihan Badri and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang)'s Suraya Sulaiman in the Malay-majority seat.
The previous assemblyman was Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Syed Ibrahim said, however, that despite Naim's condition the candidate had been active on social media and making calls to voters.
"I think it's good that he is better," he added.
Asked about PKR's campaign so far, he said it will pick up next week.
"Although it is not so aggressive during this period without many ceramah, this is because a lot of our machinery and staff who got infected by Covid-19, including reporters.
"So we have to manage our machinery properly.
"It will be more aggressive from next week," he said.
Early voting has been set for March 8.
