Man says Asda has 'ruined Christmas' because of mince pie packaging

Liam Smith complained that the festive treats were much smaller than the packaging suggested. He had bought a pack of four 'Baker's Selection' mince pies from the Asda in Stockport, Greater Manchester, as a contribution to a family get-together on the weekend.

But Liam realised the pies were a fraction of the size of the plastic packaging they were stored in.

Writing online, he said: "Boris Johnson hasn't ruined Christmas this time it was Asda and their half a mince pie.

"Don't know why I still visit Asda.

"Here thinking I was getting some deep filled mince pie. Not only poor quality but packaging waste of plastic."

He told Manchester Evening News he felt the amount of plastic used in the packaging was "unnecessary".

"I was amazed how small they were and how poor they were," the angry shopper, of Stockport, added.

"The mince pie was one third the size of the packaging.

"As we're all trying to reduce our plastic usage this just seems unnecessary and a waste of plastic."

Rival supermarket Sainsbury's saw Liam's original tweet and has offered to help, a gesture Liam called "amazing".

It's understood the incorrect packaging was used for the mince pies at Asda.

A spokesman for the chain declined to comment.
