KUALA LUMPUR: Isham Jalil (pic) has been terminated as Selangor Barisan Nasional information chief with immediate effect as the post is not in the coalition's constitution.

       In a statement on Facebook on Wednesday (June 8), Isham said he had been notified of the matter in a letter from Selangor Barisan Nasional.

       "Based on the letter, the position of state information chief is not in the Barisan Nasional constitution," he wrote.

       Expressing his gratitude to those who worked and fought with him during his service, Isham added: "Our struggle is not over, so I urge you to continue this struggle and effort even though I am no longer in the state Barisan Nasional leadership.

       "I will help as best I can with what I can afford even without any position, and fight as a regular member as I have before."

       The letter, which Isham attached to his post, was dated June 2 and said an agreement was reached, after a discussion with coalition chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, that there was no provision for a state information chief in the Barisan Nasional constitution.

       "We (Selangor Barisan Nasional) would like to accord the highest appreciation and gratitude for the services and contributions that you have given us during your tenure as the information chief," the letter read.
