About the International Conference “Overseas Chinese in Contemporary Asia”

       On October 15-18, 2015 senior researcher of IFES RAS, Dr. Alina Afonaseva have participated in the 6th International Conference of Institutes and Libraries for Chinese Overseas Studies, organized by the World Confederation of Institutes and Libraries in Chinese Overseas Studies (WCILCOS). The conference was hold at the Hua Qiao University in Xiamen, China. There were 175 participants from China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, USA, UK, Germany, Canada, Netherlands, Russia and Switzerland. At the 27 thematic sections were presented 127 academic reports on issues related to economy, policy, religion, culture, education, overseas chinese interpersonal and intergroup relationship, and their ties with the motherland.

       Dr. Alina Afonaseva made a presentation on “Overseas Chinese business in Russia in the context of ruble exchange rate depreciating and economic crisis in 2014-2015”. The full text of report is available under the link, pdf.
