PUTRAJAYA: Police have refuted claims that they failed to take action over the assault of a woman.
Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said they detected an Instagram post on the allegations at around 5pm on Wednesday (April 6).
"Our checks revealed the complainant lodged a report on March 27 claiming that she was involved in a scuffle with her ex-boyfriend who was married," he said.
"Further investigations revealed the cause of the scuffle to be because the man had repented and wanted to be with his family. The decision was difficult for the complainant to accept," added ACP A. Asmadi in a statement on Thursday (April 7).
He said an investigation paper was opened under Section 323 of the Penal for voluntarily causing hurt.
"Further investigations are ongoing to take witness statements and a medical report to complete the investigation. We advise the public to not speculate on the case as it could jeopardise investigations," he said.
ACP A. Asmadi urged those with information on the case to contact the Putrajaya police hotline at 03-8886 2145, or the City police hotline at 03-2115 9999.
