KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial graphic artist Fahmi Reza has been banned from leaving the country.
The 44-year-old, who has had run-ins with the police, said he found out that he was blacklisted by the Immigration Department when he wanted to travel to Europe.
“I’ve been barred from renewing my passport and leaving the country.
“The Immigration Department said the order came from Bukit Aman,” Fahmi posted on Facebook yesterday.
He said he was trying to get clearance from the police as he needed to go for a theatre performance in Europe next month.
“I hope Bukit Aman will also give me clearance.
“Don’t practise double standards,” said Fahmi, alluding to others who had been charged in court but managed to secure permission to travel overseas.
On Friday, Fahmi was called up by the police for questioning. He did not elaborate the reason he was called in.
