PETALING JAYA: The coalition of PAS, Umno, and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia will remain until the next general election, says Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
The PAS deputy president said the ties between Umno and the Islamist party under Muafakat Nasional would not be affected although there was no official meeting.
He explained that talks to strengthen relations between the top PAS and Umno leaders were done online.
"In addition to discussions online, meetings were often conducted regularly between leaders of the two parties. But official meetings could not be done due to the outbreak of Covid-19," he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian in Kuala Terengganu.
Tuan Ibrahim also said an official Muafakat Nasional meeting would be held soon, but did not disclose the exact date.
The Kubang Kerian MP said the formation of the current government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was based on cooperation of the three parties.
Ismail Sabri took the oath of office as the ninth Prime Minister before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Aug 20.
Ismail Sabri replaced Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who resigned on Aug 16 after losing the majority support in Parliament and his proposed bipartisan cooperation was rejected by the Opposition.
