IPOH: Muslims in Perak can perform their Aidiladha prayers at all surau and mosques in the state.

       Perak Islamic Religion and Malay Custom Council president Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini said in a statement that prayers could be performed according to the capacity of the respective premises while maintaining the physical distances and adhering to the standard operation procedure (SOP).

       “Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has consented to allow the Aidiladha prayer to be performed not only at mosques and surau, but also in open spaces such as in residential areas.

       "Residents will need to inform the nearest police office at least three days before the prayer," he said, adding that the Fardhu and Friday prayers could also be conducted.

       "Friday prayers can be held at surau in police and army camps, offices, universities, schools and factories,” he added.

       Mohd Annuar said religious talks could also be held at the mosque or surau, but refreshments were not allowed.

       “The talks can be done after Maghrib prayers and while waiting for the Isyak prayers.

       “For Friday prayers, the talks must not be more than 30 minutes,” he said.

       He said only Malaysians aged 12 and above were allowed to attend Friday and funeral prayers at mosques and surau.

       “While for the Fardhu and Aidiladha prayers, both Malaysian men and women, including permanent residents aged 12 and above are allowed,” he said.

       However, he said no religious activities are allowed in areas that were placed under the enhanced movement control order.

       “For high risk groups, especially those with health issues, they are not advised to attend any group activities at mosques and surau,” he added.
