KUCHING: The race for the Bawang Assan seat is shaping into a tight one with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Robert Lau ahead of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh by just over 300 votes.

       In a live results update broadcast by GPS at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Lau currently has 2,580 votes while Wong - the seat’s former rep - has 2,259.

       Independent candidate Ricky Enteri has 322 votes, Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s Michelle Ling has 239 while DAP’s Amy Lau has 232.

       Wong has been the Bawang Assan assemblyman for six terms, but this is the first time he will be contesting as an Opposition candidate.
