PETALING JAYA: The Transport Ministry has made a bid to the International Maritime Organization Assembly to re-elect Malaysia to a ninth term as a council member under Category C for the coming biennium.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said Malaysia released its general statement to address the 32nd session of the IMO Assembly, held from Dec 6 to 15 this year.
"In my address as head of delegation, I made our bid to the assembly to re-elect Malaysia to a ninth term as Council Member under Category C for the coming biennium.
"In the midst of recovering from the global Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to the IMO to improve human capital, increase women's participation in the maritime industry and pursue green initiatives," he said on his Facebook account on Tuesday (Dec 7).
